Leisure & Recreation
Maritime heritage
The area is steeped in maritime heritage and taking to the water remains popular whether that is by dinghy, yacht, paddle board or even stepping aboard an authentic Thames Sailing Barge. The Heybridge Basin hosts an annual regatta, while the tidal Blackwater Estuary offers plenty of places to explore.
Parks and green space
On dry land, Maldon District is fortunate to have many parks and nature reserves including Promenade Park, the largest waterside park in Essex along the River Chelmer. It features a splash park, boating lake and picnic areas, as well as hosting a weekly Parkrun, meaning fun for all the family.
Getting active
For those that want to get active, Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon town centre has a pool, fitness centre, multi-use sports hall and broad programme of classes. There is also a huge network of footpaths and cycle paths for those that prefer to walk, run or cycle outdoors.
